Le porte del'italia. (The doors of italy).

I had a lot of fun snapping shots of beautiful and interesting doors throughout our adventure, and I've been waiting to see them all next to each other.  The doors in the images below are from Barberino, Sienna, San Gimignano, and Florence.

The doors in Italy got my attention because the are so grand and tell a story.  Even the doors that are incredibly old are beautiful in a simple way.  Here in the states, country homes usually have a footpath leading up to the front door, but in Italy, most every main entrance is just on the street.

Some common threads I noticed were wrought:
iron half moon decorations above
curtains that could be drawn so fresh air could come in without giving up privacy
knobs in the center of each door panel
