Thanks to my super creative and talented FIL, we have a wonderful Photoshop drawing of our future bookcase. So, I guess this nix the DIY and makes this more of a DIWHFF (do it with the help of family and friends) project.
We're going to put a carerra marble slab on top of the lower cabinets to tie in the fireplace, and the surface will double as a work surface or mini bar. I was all about painting the woodwork white to match our trim, but now think I'd like to see it a glossy version of our wallcolor.
